Whether you are facing criminal charges, you have been brutalized by the system, or the courts handed you an unjust decision that you simply can't let stand without a fight to the end, Attorney Kevin M. Smith is the lawyer you need when you must have someone in your corner to get out there and kick somelegal tail for you. Originally hailing from South Carolina, Attorney Smith knows first and foremost that you want and deserve justice.

In his two years working with the firm, Attorney Smith has developed a keen appreciation for the idea that every case is unique, and every client has specific needs: in some cases you need a feather touch and in others, you need a hammer. As his track record demonstrates, Attorney Smith can be both or either, depending on what is best for you.

As a student, Attorney Smith graduated cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where his achievements included: serving as an intern for the Honorable Linda Lager, presiding civil judge of New Haven Superior Court; working side by side with Senior Assistant Public Defender Elizabeth Inkster to perfect and argue a criminal appeal before the Connecticut Appellate Court (State v. Delvalle), and drafting an amicus curiae brief for the Connecticut Supreme Court (State v. Davis); as well as serving as a Yale Sappern Fellow at the New Haven Superior Court. Along the way, he garnered a number of distinguished academic achievement awards (Employment Discrimination Law, Trial Practice, Clinical Work, Criminal Procedure, Mock Trial Best Overall Advocate) while being honored as a three-year Dean's Scholar.

As a practicing attorney, Kevin has expanded his experience to include both state and federal criminal and civil litigation, as well as habeas corpus trial work. He regularly appears in courthouses throughout the state, from New Haven to Waterbury, Hartford to New London, and loves taking a case to trial. Attorney Smith has also continued to develop his appellate practice, with a focus on criminal appeals. Representative appeals include State v. Lombra (Appeal of a Violation of probation that was reversed and defendant gained a new heaing), State v. Madigosky (Appeal of a guilty verdict in a murder case with a mental disease defense), and State v. Tocco (Appeal of a guilty verdict in a sexual assault case with issues of uncharged misconduct evidence).

Attorney Smith is regularly in the office from 8-5:30 and is always available to take your call.
